It was founded between 1811 and 1812 in the place of the former municipal fortification. More than 7000 species of plants from different parts of the world are grown there. Particularly interesting are the collections in the alpine garden, palm and cactus houses, aquariums, pools and on the pond. Moreover, you can see there some old fossils. The park comprises a beech forest complex and a collection of Japanese, Chinese and North-American trees and bushes.
